Just curious if anybody besides me is saying "good kitty." I mean, I'm sorry that Roy was attacked, but if you read this story, it seems like the cat was just being a cat. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,12634,00.html It's just that when a tiger tells you she's going to bite you, you end up in a hospital.

I know that when Hecate starts acting like that, I'd better leave her alone, or she's going after me with her jaws.

Very sad. If anybody makes any noise about destroying the tiger, animal people are going to have to be ready. That would be such a mistake.

Did I read that correctly? He was fighting off a tiger with a microphone?! It seems like if a Big Cat were biting me, I wouldn't want to tick it off any more than it was already, and bopping it in the head would not help. Granted, when panic mode sets in, who knows what I would do, and if a tiger were biting my arm, panic mode would definitely set in.

No matter how well you train them, even raising them from birth, tigers are wild, incredibly powerful animals.  I can totally understand the temptation to want to work and play with them--they're magnificent animals--but they're not meant to be handled like that.  Forget that at your peril.  I feely badly for Roy and I hope he recovers.  There's no doubt he loves those cats, but they're not housepets even if you treat them as such (see also today's NY Times).

Poor kitty will probably be killed, even though he was just following his instincts.  Hopefully, the remaining animals will find good homes in a wildlife sanctuary where they're free to be cats instead of entertainment.  I'm not holding my breath, though.

I seriously doubt they plan to kill this animal.
