Hey everyone,

I just wanted to relate my personal experience in the military with any new Wiccans who might make the same mistake I did. I grew up thinking that americans had left religious prejudice behind them, it's in the constitution after all. Boy was I wrong. The constitution I defend doesn't seem to apply in the military. When i first became fascinated with Wicca I didn't hide my study of it, I didn't think I would become a believer and have to hide it. Once my prejudice supervisor noticed I was passed over for every chance of promotion and school. I was finally forced to change platoons and work under someone whom I knew was religiously tolerant. As anyone in the military knows, once you have flagged yourself it's hard to get out of the spotlight. So while I do celebrate my faith, I am very careful of the manner in which I do. It's nothing new for us to remain a secret, just be careful when dealing with a community as diverse as the Army, or any military branch.
