My Outlook Express 6.00 has recently started popping up demanding that it be compressed, even though it was just compressed.

It may be that my dbx files taken together are too big - the folder containing them is 2.59 GB. There's plenty of room on my disc, so it's not that there's no space available.

I'd like to find a good program to archive them so I can delete the dbx files and start fresh.

But, I'd need a program to be able to conveniently search the archive in the usual ways. I'd also like to be able to edit it manually.

What would be a good target format for the archived files?

It would also be nice if there was a program to remove redundant text such as the copied tails of long threads.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Harvey
